Current National Ferry / Patriot II
Position: Customer Service Representative / Cashier 
Position Description:

  • Responsible for selling tickets to the general public on a daily basis from the ticket office windows at the Gangplank Marina.
  • Provide customers with information regarding vessel schedules, pricing and general National Ferry information;
  • Balance cash receipts and tickets at the end of each shift

Experience / Skills of Ideal Candidate:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, high ethical standards.  Experience in retail sales environment.
  • Experience with cash / credit card transaction procedures, close-out and reconciliation; and
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening.

Position: Deckhand 
Position Description:

  • Responsible for vessel maintenance, assisting with docking and line handling, standing watch and interacting with visitors to provide all necessary guidance and assistance while boarding and under way;
  • Assist visitors while boarding, including ticket collection, package screening, crowd control;
  • Participate in docking maneuvers and line handling;
  • Stand watch (wheelhouse, gangway, decks) for security purposes and engine room system checks;
  • Answer passenger questions, and resolve routine problems, maintaining polite, friendly customer service oriented interaction with visitors at all times;
  • Maintain interior and exterior of vessels, which may include sweeping, window washing and maintaining restrooms; and

Additional roles for qualified and capable candidates:
Concession sales:  Role selling concessions (drinks, snacks, souvenirs) to visitors. Cash management, close-out, and reconciliation.
Experience / Skills of Ideal Candidate: 

  • Excellent customer service and people skills.  Experience with retail operations;
  • Physical ability to stand, lift up to 25lbs, maneuver around the vessel;
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening;
  • Maritime experience desired ? not required!

Position: Captain 
Position Description:

  • Master of the vessel having primary responsibility for vessel operation and passenger safety;
  • Pilot the vessel with the safety of the passengers, the crew and the environment foremost in mind.  Abide by, and enforce, all Coast Guard, regulatory, and company policies;
  • Supervise the crew including deckhands and concession personnel;
  • Assist in the training and development of all crew; and
  • Perform routine inspections of the vessel and its components, checking on all operating and safety equipment and electronic components to ensure that the vessel is sea worthy in every respect.

Experience / Skills of Ideal Candidate:

  • Current 100-Ton United States Coast Guard Masters License for operation of a passenger vessel <REQUIRED>
  •  Customer service orientation and people skills.  Experience with sightseeing or transportation services;
  • Mechanical skills for diagnostics and minor repairs; and
  • Meticulous recordkeeping and communication with other captains, crewmembers, managers, and stakeholders.
